Introduction

This 5-day tour visits iconic South Vietnamese locations such as the Cu Chi Tunnels and other major attractions in Ho Chi Minh City. Explore the Mekong Delta beneath the surface by visiting indigenous villages and the famous Cai Rang Floating Market.

Day 1:

Ho Chi Minh City Arrival

Start Point
Center of District 1, Quận 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
07:30 - 08:00

Your guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transport you to your accommodation. Spend the remainder of the day adjusting to jet lag or exploring the city on your own.

Day 2:

Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels

07:30 - 08:00: Pick up from your hotel. Take a morning journey to Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, which was built on the site of the previous Norodom palace. The architect Ngo Viet Thu designed the Independence Palace, which is a well-known monument in Ho Chi Minh City. Continue seeing the spectacular structures from the French Colonial era, such as the Notre Dame Cathedral and the historic Central Post Office. The spectacular War Remnants Museum follows, with a massive exposition of both Indochina wars. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Depart for the Cu Chi tunnel; the trip will take approximately one and a half hours by bus. Before touring the tunnels, you will be given a brief explanation followed by an introductory movie explaining how the tunnels were built and how the people survived in the severe conditions of the war. Then, take your time exploring the remaining area and tunnel systems, which included specially constructed living areas with kitchens and bedrooms alongside other martial facilities such as storage, weapons factories, field hospitals and command centres to assist whoever lives inside the tunnels in meeting their basic needs. Furthermore, many secret trap doors and lethal traps are buried throughout the maze-like tunnels for security purposes during the conflict. Following that, there will be special tea and cassava (guerilla cuisine during the conflict). Time for relaxation or for those who want to try the real shooting gun during the break. 19:00: Return to Saigon, where you will be dropped off at your accommodation. Dinner and stay in Sai Gon on your own.

Day 3:

Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Ben Tre – Can Tho

07:30 - 08:00: Pick up from your hotel and begin your journey to My Tho. Visit the Vinh Trang pagoda, which dates from the late nineteenth century. Then board the sampan and cruise down the river, passing through the four magnificent islands of Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise. Stop at Unicorn Island and walk along the village trails to admire the orchards, tropical fruits, and Vietnamese folk music played by the locals. Visit the fruit orchard. Visit the family business and bee-keeping farm, taste honey tea and coconut candy workshop, and be rowed in a tiny sampan across the Thoi Son canal to admire the beauty of the region. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant. It's time for a break. The day is spent cycling around Tan Thach village, visiting locals and learning about their daily lives in the Mekong delta. Those who do not like to participate in the bike tour can relax on hammocks and enjoy the cool breeze. Continue to Can Tho City and spend the night there.

Day 4:

Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market – Ho Chi Minh City

Breakfast will be given at the hotel. You can take a leisurely boat ride to discover the beautiful tributaries of the Lower Mekong River (Bassac River) before visiting Cai Rang Floating Market, the area's most vibrant floating market. On foot, visit the local noodle factory. Visit the Munir Ansay Pagoda, a Khmer pagoda with a distinctive structure. Then, by boat, travel to the Con Son tourist district, where you will visit a fruit plantation and sample seasonal fruits. Return to Ho Chi Minh City after lunch. 17:00 – 17:30: You will be dropped off at your hotel. Dinner and accommodation in Sai Gon are on your own.
